Acupuncture (FAQs)

  • Does Acupuncture hurt?

Generally speaking, acupuncture is painless. However, different sensations, such as slight tingling or fullness, may be felt at the site of insertion. The types of needles we use are very different than those you are used to at your doctor’s office or lab test office. Acupuncture needles are solid, extremely fine and are thinner than a strand of human hair.

  • How does it work?

Acupuncture improves circulation, stimulates the healing response, reduces inflammation, and releases endorphins, serotonin, and other feel good chemicals in your brain.

  • Where are the needles placed?

Depending on your condition, needles can be placed in many different locations on the body. There are many different ways to treat the same condition, and treatment methods are based on your current condition and current state of health.

  • WHat happens to the needle after they are used?

We use the highest quality disposable needles, and they are placed in proper biohazard container after use. The container is picked up by a medical waste facility.

  • When will I Feel the effects?

Treatment effects vary by condition and time since onset. In most cases, there is an immediate effect of some kind, while in some more chronic conditions, improvement will be more gradual.

  • How many treatments Will I need?

The number of treatments vary significantly, and is discussed on a case-by-case basis. To find out what your specific needs are, we need to complete an evaluation of your condition and set up a treatment plan.

Microneedling and Nanoneedling:

Microneedling and nanoneedling are used to help reduce fine lines and wrinkles, as well as acne scars, skin discolorations, alopecia, seborrheic dermatitis (dandruff), etc.

  • How many treatments do I need?

For the best results, we recommend six to eight monthly treatments to get lasting results. Results will be seen about 2 weeks after each treatment as the skin begins to heal itself.

  • How does it work?

Micro-needling creates highly controlled micro-injuries to the epidermal and/or dermal layers of your skin. This process stimulates the skin natural healing process and increases cell turnover and increases production of collagen and elastin to create a firmer texture and visibly reduce pore size.

  • How to prepare for your appointment

Stay hydrated before your treatment, and purchase a high quality hyaluronic acid for post treatment. Avoid retinol products, laser treatments, fillers or botox for one to two weeks prior.
