Microneedling (Collagen Induction Therapy)

Microneedling is a very simple, safe, effective, and minimally invasive therapeutic technique. It was initially introduced for skin rejuvenation, however, now it is being used for a very wide range of indications including acne scarring, acne breakouts, post-traumatic/ burn scarring, alopecia (hair loss), stretch marks, and more.

Microneedling is used to stimulate collagen and elastin production in the skin. Using a professional- grade microneedling device (AcuMicro or Dermapen), channels are created in the skin. This process allows deeper penetration of topical skincare treatments while stimulating circulation and collagen growth.

Professional microneedling differs from at- home microneedling treatments in several ways. Mainly, the mechanism of action differs between the professional devices and the at- home devices. The AcuMicro or Dermapen uses a vertical action at 18,000rpm, versus a rolling action or vibrating action that can cause excess damage to the skin. Nanoneedling can be used for the more sensitive eye areas or in specific cases to help significantly reduce fine lines and wrinkles with each treatment.

A series of six to eight monthly treatments are recommended for best results.
